About the Recipe

Vietnam's National Dish.

Pho is eaten across many regions in Vietnam and is officially the country's national dish. Although the classic Hanoi pho is traditionally eaten with beef broth, there are over 40 variations of the dish whereby each bowl is differentiated by the broth, type of meat and type of noodle used.

Ingredients

  • Nem Viet Pho Kit, containing:

    • Rice Noodles

    • Herbs & Spice Infusion Sachet

    • Black Soybean Sauce

    • Vietnamese Chilli Sauce

  • 250g Thinly Sliced Beef (Or Your Choice Of Protein)

  • 100g Beansprout

  • 700ml Water

Preparation

Step 1

Place the herbs and spice infusion sachet in a pan of 700ml boiling water. Turn down the heat and simmer for about 3 minutes.

Step 2

Place the rice noodles in another pan and pour over boiling water. Add the sliced beef, and cover with a lid and leave to simmer for 3 minutes until the meat is cooked.

Step 3

Remove the herb and spice sachet from the pan, making sure to squeeze all the flavour out using a spoon on the side of your pan! The soup is now ready. Use tongs to split the noodles and cooked beef into your serving bowls. Ladle the herb soup over the noodles.

Step 4

Top with beansprouts. Add the Vietnamese chilli sauce and black soybean sauce as desired. Make sure to serve hot!

TIP: For more colour and flavour, garnish with chopped coriander, finely sliced Bird's Eye chillies and thinly sliced spring onions.
